Tourism Facts The number of tourists visiting Britain continues to grow. In 1998 alone, Britain played host to nearly 26 million visitors, spending over £12 billion. In the future, the British Tourist Authority expects overseas visitors to spend £18 billion a year by 2003*. Helping tourists to feel at home is a profitable move - overseas visitors spend 23% of their total budget on eating out, more than is spent on shopping and domestic travel.
