
Each tea is produced from a blend which has its own unique formulation or recipe known only to the tea blenders, some of which have been in use since Thomas Twining’s day! A blend can include as many as 40 different teas from different tea estates. The tea blenders give the teas unique gradings to summarise its traits. The real art of blending is to analyse teas in minute detail so that each element of the blend is of consistently high quality – something the blenders at Twinings do to an exceptional level.
Tasting and blending are only one side of the story. Twinings quality control is exceedingly stringent and the blends are checked to ensure quality throughout bulk shipments. In this way the consumer and, in the case of the UK out of home market, the caterer, can have complete confidence in the product they buy and serve.
